Tomorrow I go in for my final dose of Adriamycin and Cytoxan, the two types of chemo I've been taking every 3 weeks. I also find out what to expect from the next drug, which will be given every week for 12 weeks. Hopefully this will go as smoothly as the the last 2 months, but only time will tell. I'm hoping to be able to have the majority of the treatments done in Rancho Bernardo, as it's a 5 minute drive as compared to Torrey Pines/La Jolla, which is a 30-40 minute drive, depending on traffic.
My friend, Bobbie, has offered to take me to some of the ones in Rancho Bernardo, which will be fun (fun and chemo somehow seems like an oxymoron - but I'm being positive, remember?) as she'll work on the crafts that Pamela sends me for each and every treatment. I'm telling you, the chemo kits are my survival kits for the 2-hour duration - THANKS Pamela!! The other ones Denny will take me to, but I don't think I'll ever convince him to do crafts with me :) Maybe we'll read or watch a movie on those days. It won't be a cowboy movie (sorry Denny), it will be one of my chick flicks, like "On Golden Pond". After all - it is all about me right now :)
Here's a photo from my last chemo. I was really getting the nasty chemical taste in my mouth (many describe it as metallic, but for me, it's more like cleaning fluid - yum!). They had these fantastic lemon candies, but I hit an incredibly sour patch. I thought Sandra was going to pee her pants she was laughing so hard at the faces I was making. She did stop shaking long enough to get this shot.
The second shot is the cool lotus flowers that we made doing origami. They were really fun (once we figured them out) and the nurses were wowed. Like I said, fun and chemo, that's what I'm talkin' about.
